19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first championship for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.
Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging year, achieving just one win at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.
The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-term trainer Cervara.
Now collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.
It is the player's maiden trophy following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court from spring of the previous year.
Victory also means Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 different competitions.
"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is particularly special," said ranked player Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my child her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.
His defensive play style and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led commentators to doubt if his capacity to perform at the elite level was over.
However the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to come to the net and play positively, supported by an better service.
Medvedev recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.
Both players traded breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional title, took control to force a final set.
He saved four initial break points in a close deciding set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.
Appropriately, Medvedev earned victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
